Ariana Grande continues to defy gravity with her style.
The Wicked star tapped into her Glinda character for the Australian premiere of the movie musical, donning a pink Vivienne Westwood ballgown featuring a large tulle skirt, billowy sleeves and silver embellishments similar to the iconic dress worn by Billie Burke in 1939's The Wizard of Oz.
Instead of a large crown, Ariana opted to accessorize with a butterfly-shaped choker from Lorraine Schwartz. She capped off her look with diamond stud earrings.
This was not the first time the "Dangerous Woman" singer channeled the Good Witch. At the 2024 Oscars in March, she brought fashion fantasy in strapless pink gown by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture, while her Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo wore an emerald Louis Vuitton dress as a nod to her Elphaba character in the film adaptation.
Ariana and Cynthia also wore pink and green, respectively, when they performed at the 2024 Met Gala in May.
But playing Glinda has made an impact beyond Ariana's wardrobe. As she previously noted, her accent has also changed after "speaking like this for two years" of filming.
"I intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often," Ariana wrote on TikTok in June, after several fans called out the notable changes in the tone of her voice, "depending on how much singing i'm doing."
The Grammy winner defended herself again in September, saying, "There is a part of the world that isn’t familiar with what it takes to transform your voice, whether it’s singing or taking on a different dialect for a role or doing a character voice for something."
"When it’s a male actor that does it, it’s acclaimed," she told Vanity Fair. "There are definitely jokes that are made as well, but it’s always after being led with praise: ‘Oh, wow, he was so lost in the role.’ And that’s just a part of the job, really."
And for what it's worth, Ariana can distinguish herself apart from Glinda. In fact, E! News recently confirmed that the actress is being credited as Ariana Grande-Butera—her real name that nods to mom Joan Grande and dad Edward Butera—in Wicked.
"I am really proud of my hard work," she told VF of her performance in the movie, "and of the fact that I did give 100 percent of myself, including my physicality, to this role."
